Yanmar's Model 6AYM-STE marine diesel engines are the choice for fishing, workboat and commercial vessels. Smaller engines (to around 1000kW) in this range are medium to high speed diesels. They feature all the traditional Yanmar values of frugality, reliability and low emissions in a compact package. Passages are made faster, with lower fuel bills; there is a worldwide parts backup network; and the engine lasts longer.

Larger engines from around 331 to 3310 kW are medium speed diesels which often run continuously for many months. A variety of fuels, including heavy fuels, are possible. Published world shipbuilding stats invariably show steady numbers of Yanmar diesels, chosen for their reliability, economy of operation, and long service life.
