New Hatz H50TIC Diesel Engine
Hatz H50TIC Diesel Engine
Hatz Diesel will unveil the first of its new liquid-cooled diesel engine line to the North American market in early 2014. The flagship 4H50TIC is a four-cylinder, 1.952 diesel engine with a bore and stroke of 84 x 88 mm. The engine offers a top rating of 75 hp at 2800 rpm and a maximum torque output of 177 lb. ft., which is available at speeds as low as 1600 rpm, the company said. The engine is also available in a generator set rating of 48 hp at 3000 rpm.
The H50TIC diesel engine incorporates an electronically controlled Bosch common rail fuel system that delivers injection pressures in excess of 26,000 psi and has three injections per cycle. Operating at a compression ratio of 17.5:1 and combined with an optimized combustion system that utilizes Mahle pistons and external cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), enables the engine to operate with only an HJS diesel oxidation catalyst and no diesel particulate filter (DPF), while still meeting Tier 4 final emissions standards.
The engine’s EGR system has two-stage cooling and an EGR mixing nozzle optimized to uniformly mix and distribute the recycled exhaust gas with fresh air into each cylinder.
Engine breathing is enhanced through a newly designed Bosch Mahle wastegate turbocharger and two-valve cast aluminum cylinder head that also contributes to reduced frictional losses, the company said. This, along with an overall weight of approximately 381 lb., helps the H50 engine achieve good fuel economy, with fuel consumption as low as 0.35 lb/hp-hr at the optimum point of the operating range, Hatz said.
