Woodward takes over L’Orange
INTERVIEW In April, Rolls-Royce announced the sale of L´Orange to Woodward Inc. Ship&Offshore spoke with Tom Gendron, chairman of the board, CEO and president at Woodward, Chad Preiss, president of Industrial Control Systems at Woodward and Andreas Lingens, vice president and general manager of Woodward L´Orange, about the background of the acquisition and the future direction of the newly formed company Woodward L´Orange GmbH.

Woodward has purchased L´Orange, the German diesel systems manufacturer previously owned by Rolls-Royce Power Systems. What were the key drivers to make this acquisition?
Tom Gendron: Woodward is a leading sup- plier of actuation, gas metering, combus- tion and control solutions for oil and gas, power generation and transportation appli- cations. L´Orange is a leading company in diesel fuel systems for high-, medium- and low-speed markets in the same applications. With our combined technologies in diesel, dual-fuel and gas systems, we will be able to offer our customers component and system solutions for all fuel types and applications. Since the closing of the acquisition, we have received very positive reactions from our customers. Additionally, we see significant synergies by combining Woodward´s exist- ing diesel fuel systems and leveraging our combined global footprint.
