Conformance with EU Stage V Emission Regulations for Non-Road Diesel Vehicles
Kubota Corporation (Headquarters: Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan; President and Representative Director: Masatoshi Kimata) has obtained certification for its compact diesel engine (11 models) with an output below 19 kW (equivalent to a horsepower of 25.5) under EU Stage V, the emission regulations for non-road diesel vehicles. These regulations will be imposed beginning in 2019, for the purpose of further alleviating environmental burdens amid rising awareness of the need to preserve the global environment.
In addition to our tractors, combine harvestors, and construction machineries, we will supply the certified diesel engines on an OEM basis to major overseas manufacturers of construction and industrial machinery, manufacturers of generators and welding machines, and other applications.

About EU Stage V (the new European emission regulations for non-road diesel vehicles)
- A new set of regulations (Regulation (EU) 2016/1628) will be imposed on engines included in non-road mobile machines in Europe from 2019 to 2020.
- These new emission regulations are ordinarily called “Stage V,” because the current regulations (Directive 97/68/EC) are called “Stage IV.” While the emission regulation levels vary with the output category, they will generally be tougher than even the existing regulations applied in Japan, the United States, and Europe.
- To date, diesel engines with an output below 19 kW (equivalent to a horsepower of 25.5) have been excluded from the scope of the regulations.
